The "ISH" is real

Postby Aaron on Sat Jul 03, 2010 5:08 pm

The Downhill, flow, jump, trail.......... is no longer a dream or a figment of our imaginations, it is real.

Thanks to Brad and his awesome Bobcat skills and some dry weather we were able to get the soil moved up the hill and started building jumps and berms. Two or three are built as of today and as soon as we get more soil delivered we'll build more.

Shannon and Patrick did a great job of directing Brad where the jumps were to go.
The soil we have is a really nice clay that looks like it's going to hold very well. Finally a good use for our local clay soils :D

All jumps will have two lines to allow for progression and to add a bit of different feel. Go fast on one side, go big on the other.

What we need to make this project go faster and easier is:
1. Black HDPE Culvert pipe . We use this to help as fill so we don't have to move as much soil up the hill. 10" Diameter and larger and 3' long and longer.
2. Large Limestone rocks like what you see when new construction is going on. 2' X 2' X 2' and larger.
3. People to help shape the jumps and berms. Much of this is done wit the bobcat but we need finish work.

While the trail is not officially open, and it is not nearly finished, what is there is rideable.
It is located of the Family Trail just south of the long tech offshoot.
Pics to come soon.

Contact me here or via the blog if you want to help or can help with supplies.

My neighbor has 6 or 7 four foot long pieces of 8" black corrugated pipe in their trash. Trash day is Thursday so if you want them come buy by Wednesday night.

the "ISH" trail is real, and it's awesome! I propose that we change the name cause the "ISH" was given to it cause it was "downhillISH" ...I'd say this trail is pretty much all downhilll, and will be quite fast.

Brad killed it with is bobcat skills for sure..his experience building moto tracks definately shows.

Some pics from today, I left before the second jump was completed..Shannon did you get some pics of it?

It's a beautiful thing :D

As long as it is the solid stuff (not flexy) we'll use it.
Anybody out west got the time to grab this stuff??
I can keep it here at the house until I go out to Landahl if it would be in your way.

THE FOUNTAIN IS DEAD! :P

the top of the big tree came down right across the top of the big jumps....somehow missed the lip and landed right in the untamped area.....but not so good for the fountain....its toast.

The Fountain was going to need surgery before the tree came down.
We'll just call the fountain 'Old Yeller' from now on.

If more of that tree came down then that means we have more tree to build stuff out of.

Woot Woot.

Brad, Shannon, All...

I talked with the parks maintenance crew and they are going to try to get us some soil moved soon, possibly tomorrow the 28th.
I'll let you know when they call me and confirm the soil is there.
I have all the signage ready to go so we can "officially" open the upper section and get some people riding it and make sure we are safe about the boulevard crossing.
