Anyone on the trail this week?

Postby Razor from Kc on Mon May 24, 2010 10:35 pm

Was out there today on the trail with my brand new bike, ( was a bit soggy in a FEW spots , Overall pretty dry though) JUST picked the bike up today. I am normally a road rider but i won the bike in a raffle at the Greater Liberty ride for MS so i just had to try the trail. I will be out there ( at least ) 2 times a week. it is awesome! Is there anyone else that is out there a bit? Let me know we can meet up and ride... I have to ride over there witch is bout 4 miles. I LOVE THE TRAILS!

I will be going again tomarrow during the day and thursday sometime..

Glad to hear you enjoy the trails. I have to say though, I think they are probably not ready for tires.

One of our trail stewards was out tonight and called me and thought we would need at least one more day of drying. I am sure you found some dry stuff, but we do have quite a few areas that are still quite damp and muddy. Hopefully you walked those areas.

Generally riding when it is too muddy results in ruts, which results in water standing which results in people riding wide to avoid the puddle which leads to damaged and widened trail.

You know doubt saw some of our problem areas that we will be working on improving (through rock armoring).

Hopefully the forecast will be wrong for the next couple of days. When trail conditions allow, there is a weekly ride at Stocksdale on Monday nights around 5 to 6 pm. Different levels of riders from slow to quite fast.

Congrats on winning the bike. Hope to see you out soon.

Matt, you are tactful!

BTW, do I need to clear/arrange with anyone if I get opportunities to weed eat at Stocksdale?
Thanks

There will not be trail in that area for a variety of reasons. The biggest of which is that the Missouri Dept. of Conservation does not want any more trail on MDC property. they have been a good partner on this project by working with us on the existing trail on MDC property.
