Tree down

Postby jlbay on Tue Jul 20, 2010 12:54 pm

There is a big tree down right in one of the smaller creek bottoms. It's too big to move and will need a chainsaw. Maybe someone else can chime in with a good idea of the location... Someone mentioned that if we could get it moved, it would make a good skinny across the creek. Just uphill from it we picked up a couple handfulls of glass that had been strategically scattered around the turn.

Justin,

Thanks for the notice. I am aware of the tree. My chainsaw is being repaired right now, so hopefully I can get the tree removed later this week.

I have removed glass from the area you are referring to as well. I don't believe that is intentional. I believe that glass works it way to the top. That area was a bit of a dump in the distant past. If you look closely you will find most of a car buried there.

Thanks again. I will get to the tree soon.

That glass is "left overs" from before the trail was built (and probably before it was a park). Ben and I spent 5 minutes there earlier this year trying to get the worst of it off of the trail tread. Obviously we missed some, or the recent rains have exposed/washed more of it in the tread.

The log is on the section built 2 years ago (for those familiar with the park). If you go in to the left from the trailhead it is just before you hit the lowest point/creek crossing on the whole system. It is kind of in a blind spot on a downhillish stretch, so use caution if you are riding from that direction (clockwise).
