10 Days of Disorder on PB

Postby MTBjunkie on Thu Oct 15, 2009 10:20 am

In case you haven't already seen this on Pink Bike, they are streaming the first 9 New World Disorder films by Freeride Entertainment, twice a day starting Oct 19th until the release date of NWD 10 on the 28th. http://www.pinkbike.com/news/10-Days-of-Disorder-2009.html

Pretty cool if you ask me. If you haven't seen them all (I haven't) this would be a great free opportunity to do so. I wonder if we could get one of the local bars or shops to setup a projector and play them all? Anyone know a good one?

A friend of mine (and mountain biker) is one of the owners of Johnny's Tavern. If there were enough people/interest, I'm sure he'd pull this together from his end. Would a web stream be high enough quality or should we try and find people who have the NWD dvd's?

Let me know if you think this has legs and I'll talk to Pat.

Ken,

Where is Johnny's tavern? I guess I could start a poll. The quality will depend on the connection, computer, and projector being used. Of course it would be a much better image if we could find all the dvd's. I have NWD 6 (Unchained) and 7 (Flying High Agaain) that I would offer up but 7 is questionable due to a large scratch. It may be repairable though. I can get the first three for $7 on pricepoint right now I think. I bet some of the older freeriders and xc guys on here have the rest.

I think the Johnny's he's referring to is at K10 and Ridgeview in Olathe.

How long are these movies? If you think you can get a decent showing of mtbers, I'd say that ER would reimburse you for the $7 ones (probably more if you can get them) and we'll raffle them off at the end of the night.

We did a movie night at Bikesource after they closed for the evening a couple years ago. We had a pretty decent turn out for that one. We could check into doing that again. Mark was fine with us having beer in shop as long as there was enough for him.

I really like this idea. The movies are typically the length of a regular movie, so about 90 to 120 minutes each. I am not sure how long the older ones are because I have never seen them. The last three movies were filmed in HD fwiw.

I went ahead and bought NWD 1-3 (WITH BONUS DVD!). So if this does happen, I am cool with raffling them off. If not, I'll just keep them.

I hate to cross post but most forum users don't look at this section so it'll be hard to get a good idea of the amount of interested parties. Can we do this? I didn't get the option to create a poll either. Is this function no longer available?

With the lenght of those videos, maybe this could turn into a monthly or every 2 week deal throughout the cold/wet months of winter. I would attend this....

There are 7 Johnny's locations. Olathe, Shawnee, Overland Park, PV, KCMO, Lawrence

It would likely be the Olathe location or the OP location (119th Street behind Cheesecake Factory).

As Tim stated, if we had the videos's and the audience, I would think that a showing every couple weeks through the winter months would be cool to do.

Hey shannon,

I have 1-3, 6 and 8. I ordered 10, but that'll be later when it gets here.

Shannon,

Are you interested in moving forward on this? I spoke with Pat over the weekend and he's all about hosting us and putting together some kind of special for us. The biggest challenge for us will be when college basketball starts. We'll just need to work with them to find days that don't conflict with MU, KU and K-State games (primarily) and the Big 12 generally.

I'd like to move forward with this. I like the idea of spreading them out to once a month or every couple weeks over the winter. Do you think that he'd be down with that? That'll give us time to actually get NWD10 in hand. I'd still have to find 8 but that shouldn't be a problem. I just picked up the 4-6 box set.

As long as we are not charging admission to watch the movie's, I don't think there is anything illegal about showing them. What location would we show them at?

They'd prefer spread out. The locations will vary but based on the space, it will be Overland Park (119th) or Olathe. Do you have an estimate of the number of people? I told him 7-10 but could be as many as 20.

More than likely a week day: Tuesday, Wednesday or maybe a Friday. Saturday is college football and Sunday's would be the NFL.

I would shoot for Friday (because that works best for me :D ). I have 10 people who have said yes to my poll and several more who said yes in person. Not sure we can get that many each night though.
