BRP Serengeti trimming

Postby steved on Fri Jun 11, 2010 7:56 am

The Serengeti needs to be tammed. The DR mower is down. It's the best way to cut the Serengeti. It laughs at regular string trimmers. I'm looking at getting a couple of the DR trimmers. Not as easy as the mower but much better than a reg. string trimmer.

If anyone was planning on going out to Phil's canceled workday & still wants to work an extra hand would be nice. Shoot me a PM or give me a call.

Why is the ER mower down?

Ron said he couldn't start it. The battery was dead so I charged it. Went to start it & the starter won't turn the flyweel. I jumped the starter with a straight connect with my charger & it still wouldn't turn it over. Flywheel turns fine by hand. Starter turns fin but when the pinion contacts the flywheel the armature spins within the pinion. I'm going to tear it apart later & see what I can find.

You need a rebuild kit for the top half of the starter. The slots on the shaft sound like they are stripped out. I just fixed one like that last week. Just be carful when removing the retaining ring from the top of the starter. They like to shoot off into oblivion.

I did that once before years ago. I'll do it at work where If got the equipment & tools to tackle it. Just don't know if I can get to it today.

The DR is back up & running. Now i need it to quit raining & dry out so & can get the Serengeti cut.

I might have to change the wheels out for a couple of pontoons with all the rain we're getting. I'm sure the Serengeti & river trails are or were under water after last nights deluge.

I will bet the river is still up. When I crossed the bridge over Indian creek this morning it was almost spilling over it's banks onto the golf course by Antioch and 435. I am sure it was on the golf course down closer to 103 and Metcalf.

Lee Park at 435 and State Line is under water and Indian Creek went up and over State Line near 103rd so I'm positive BRP is under water. I'm not sure high line is safe from flooding right now.
