It's never too early to start planning for Bonktoberfest.

The campground has been reserved, same one as last year, for October 12, 13, 14 and 15. I got it for Thursday night too, in case someone wants to get there early.

Blanchard Springs, Syllamo, right by Mountain View.

I heard a rumor that is the same weekend as the big Bean Festival in Mountain View, but I couldn't find anything with a google search. Just says it's always in October.

A little more diggin' and I found this tidbit:

24th Annual Beanfest & Outhouse Races, Oct. 26th - 28th, 2006

So depending out how you look at it, we either have a good weekend picked out or we missed it by two weeks.

Joe, isn't it about time for you to save our butts and reserve a campsite for Bonktoberfest for all of us again? EDIT: guess I should read higher. I see you already did that. What a guy.

Outhouse races, huh? Try real hard not to turn it over when you crash!

Second that.

I'm hoping to be able to take advantage of that Thursday night.

Whachu talkn' bout Willis?

Thursday, October 12 is the traditional Columbus day, the 9th is the observed, so technically it is the holiday weekend. Or maybe you were talking about Monday the 16, which is bosses day? The only other holidays in October are Yom Kippur (2nd) and Canadian Tahnkgiving day (also the 9th).
So I guess you're stuck trying to change your vacation.

For future reference (and I didn't make this up) :

BONKTOBERFEST IS ALWAYS THE 2ND SATURDAY IN OCTOBER.

Joe, being the good christian, did not mentions those 2 dates for a good reason, because one is pagan and in your case, evil

seiously i just misread the calendar. it seems to usually include the holiday in the weekend we go, so i kind of jumped the gun when i placed my x in the box . though with my screwed up vacation offerings at work i could really use it on the weekend. we'll just see how it plays out.

Actually the Brazil calendar has 10/12 as a holiday and India has one on 10/2. Result of having staff on 3 continents. Knowing my teams holiday schedule and vacation schedule and trying to integrate that into a workable Project Forecast is a nightmare.

So if you follow the Brazil calendar, you can come down with us on Thursday.

Here are a few links to info about the trails at Syllamo. From the best info I have found there is 50+ miles of trail to ride and crash on. Last year I think I rode about 2/3 of them. This year I plan to ride them all at least once! I also plan to bring another barrel of barley pop (donations gladly excepted) as penance for being a Roadie. Keep in mind this is a dry county so plan accordingly.

I am in need of another epic ride.....I may leave on Wednesday morning........
