July 31 (Tuesday) and Aug 2 (Thursday) evenings. Exact times/location to be announced later. Expect these to take about 3-4 hours each evening. This will cover everything except for the First Aid/CPR portions of the course.
For what the patrol is/does:

Being active in the patrol is a blast, and also looks great on a CV/resume. All employers love community service/involvement!
COURSE INFO
Please get the FA/CPR portion done on your own, preferably prior to the main class, though not a pre-requisite for the patrol class. This much advance notice hopefully gives you time to get this done on your own. Try doing this through your employer, school, or other local community resource (some listed below). We have a lot of new interest in the patrol, and some special events coming up later this summer/fall. The 24 hours of Landahl is a cool event/race in September, and we need to have a big presence there.
Topics to be covered in this class include (brief list):
--what the patrol does
--rider safety/trail technique pointers
--rider/trail advocacy
--BRIEF First Aid/CPR (practical tips you don't learn in regular FA/CPR)
--recommended items in your patrol pack
--communication (practice your yodeling, our radios suck)
--basic maps/orienteering
--trailside mechanical quickies (a whole course in itself)
Expect these to be able to get you through the NMBP certification exam.
FA/CPR courses/links:
---of course, the mainstay-- (http://www.kcredcross.org/Training/Trai ... 9&Cat=1&~=). ARC has a plethora of courses--see what works for you.
June 15: $45, $60 w/ book and CD/DVD (http://www.localendar.com/public/kcfirstaid) This (http://www.kcfirstaid.com/) is a local Lenexa company--has lots of course choices, i.e. with/without AED, FA alone, CPR alone--etc. So if you need all or part, they can help.
Various dates: http://www.firstaidkansas.com/coursedescription.html $45 for Heartsaver First Aid/CPR
--I also contacted an instructor via craigslist to see what they have available.
Also try: http://165.173.10.10/home.asp?qlinks=CP ... Center&C=4
And neat links, NOT for certification, but for reassurance/reminding (http://www.citizencpr.org/learncpr.html). Brief pictures/videos of the FA/CPR stuff you learned and forgot if not used.
***Approach your employer--they very well may pay for a FA/CPR course. It looks good to have "X" number of employees trained in case something happens at their place to one of their employees/customers/clients.
More info later. Keep an eye out. I am open to recommendations/suggestions here folks. This is a Director's posistion, not a Dictator's position. PM me, or post here.
Thanks, Greg
