Postby JDubKC » Sat Jan 24, 2015 10:46 am

Forum says closed, hotline does not say closed. Anyone know the real deal?

Closed. I know someone who tried to ride it the other day and it was a mess.

Whenever I call the hotline, it always seems Kill Creek is closed for at least a couple days after SMP opens up. this time of year, unless frozen, I'd wonder if Kill Creek is ridable at all.

The park staff opens and closes the trails at Kill Creek and they aren't as efficient as the volunteers that do it at SMP. That's not a complaint at all, that's just how it is. Sometimes they don't remember to change the hot line, so if you are sure enough to make the drive and find them open, feel free to change the status here.

The paved path goes south to 135th now (has for about a year- I'm hoping they take it even further south soon) and has very little traffic, so if you get out there and it's muddy there is enough paved stuff to get some riding in.

The goal is to get the paved trail all the way into Gardner in the future then hopefully into Bull Creek someday.

The really cool chunk of land is Big Bull Creek. It'll be public land from Edgerton to Hillsdale Lake. Bigger than Shawnee Mission Park.

don't head to St. Louis,

Unless you live in Lawrence. In that case, head east. There you will find the promised land (ie. trails).

Trail in good shape. This trail is a rocky temptress, she begs to be ridden hard but it's easier said than done.

Now I lay me down to sleep...
I pray the trails, the Lord will keep...

Dry

Until Thursday. No hope of riding before then.

Eddy is really overgrown, Hank and the connector are good though.

Anybody know the status of connecting the paved trail to Gardner? Anyone know of trail build status at Big Bull?
