Description:
Small System Sunday is a group ride where we explore some of the smaller trail systems in the metro.
All levels welcome to join.
We will do our best to split into groups based on ability if needed & ride leaders available.
We will do our best not to drop anyone but it could always happen unintentionally. So in the end you are responsible for you! However, this is intended to be a no-drop exploration ride, so if you want something fast paced to cover the whole system in short time frame, this may not be for you. At beginning of ride, we will check to be sure of anyone who really needs guidance to make sure they don't get lost and left alone.
This ride is open to Supporting Members and anyone wanting to find out if EarthRiders is right for you!
If the Designated trail is closed we will do our best to announce cancellation & or rescheduling by 6pm the night before. Check http://www.KcTrailsStatus.comfor the most up to date trail conditions.

Due to conditions I rescheduled, though it is drying up quickly, this is intended to be a more beginner friendly ride.

New time next weekend, 4/29 at 11:00am, to allow time.to ride and later go to SendIt Sunday at 2pm BRP. Double feature option!

We'll roll before 11:15 depending on stragglers. Note also, the parking is centrally located to allow picking up or bailing out depending on the amount of riding the members of the group are up for.

Hope to see everyone next weekend!

Next ride is June 24th, 10am at Stocksdale park:
Join us for a tour of Stocksdale Park/Walnut Woods Conservation Area.

Drive all the way back into the park to the circle drive, or as close as possible depending on parking spaces:
https://goo.gl/maps/VjUM3mUwJNC2

We will do our best not to drop anyone but it could always happen unintentionally. So in the end you are responsible for you! The system has a few short cuts but a counter clockwise loop can be done by staying right at every turn. However, this is intended to be a no-drop exploration ride, so if you want something fast paced to cover the whole system in short time frame, this may not be for you. Once we complete a loop, we may do it back the other direction at a faster pace for those that want more riding, depending on interest. There are some skills and berms that you can ride for fun and practice as well, which we will point out early on. These are all in a field central to the park.

This ride is open to Supporting Members and anyone wanting to find out if EarthRiders is right for you!

If the Designated trail is closed we will do our best to announce cancellation & or rescheduling by 6pm the night before. Check http://www.KcTrailsStatus.com for the most up to date trail conditions.

Lastly, anyone who can not make it at 10am, but wants to join later, please post up and we can figure out a way to rendezvous after our first loop. I'm willing to ride past noon as well for an extended tour.

It has some nice stuff, including skill features, beginner friendly trails, a few technical bits and a reasonable amount of climbing. It's also a great place to feel like you're in deep woods Missouri without being too far from the parking lot.

Join us for a double feature Sunday 7/22
10am ride time at Lexington Lake Park
~11:30 at Kill Creek Park

We plan to roll fairly promptly at 10am at Lexington Lake Park, which has almost 4 miles of trail now, so you you can get up to almost 8 miles, if you ride the whole trail out and back, but it has a nice loop with an option to return sooner at a few points..

Once we finish at Lexington, it is a ~10 minute drive over to Kill Creek, we'll try to be there around 11:30 to ride as much as people are up for.

Note this is an easy no-drop ride open to EarthRiders members and anyone who wants to see if EarthRiders is right for them. We will give the best guidance we can, but ultimately you are responsible for you. Come prepared with everything you need to ride, including hyrdration as it is summer, it will likely be hot, especially later at Kill Creek.

The following should information will help you with where to go and to be aware of the trails.

Map is out of date, new trail extends around the gold loop and to the west as an out and back.

Join us for another double feature Sunday 8/26
10am ride time at Hidden Valley Park
~11:30 at Hodge Park

We plan to roll fairly promptly at 10am at Hidden Valley Park, which has a little over 3 miles of trail now, so you you can get over 6 if you do it in both directions, which is fun. It is a fast, easy flowing trail with some climbing, but not much tech. Also, aside from a couple offshoots, this is a closed loop and it would be hard to get lost.

Once we finish at Hidden Valley, it is less than 15 minutes drive over to Hodge, we'll try to be there around 11:30, and once everyone is ready, we'll ride as much as people are up for. Hodge is bigger and has some more tech than HV, but is still pretty beginner friendly.

Note this is an easy no-drop ride open to EarthRiders members and anyone who wants to see if EarthRiders is right for them. We will give the best guidance we can, but ultimately you are responsible for you. Come prepared with everything you need to ride, including hyrdration as it is summer, it will likely be hot, especially later at Hodge.

Havens Park 9/30

Postby ScottL » Thu Sep 06, 2018 10:06 am

Join us for our final EarthRiders Small System Sundays Ride 9/30
3pm ride time at Havens Park in Leavenworth, KS.
Starting location is at the circle drive all the way in the park:
https://goo.gl/maps/qszUY8N66LS2

We will roll out when everyone is ready, we can wait if someone is late, but please try to be timely in consideration of others.

Havens park isn't a big area though it can get confusing, we will do our best to guide you to hit all the best stuff and with as little climbing as possible.

Note this is an easy no-drop ride open to EarthRiders members and anyone who wants to see if EarthRiders is right for them. We will give the best guidance we can, but ultimately you are responsible for you. Come prepared with everything you need to ride. As the ride progresses an advanced group can break away if desired, hitting more of the runs down the hill and back up again, as the climbing here can be substantial if you want to hit more of it.

This location isn't on MTB project, but the City of Leavenworth does provide a trail map PDF:
