Angel Fire Trip - Summer 2015

Postby shoffner » Wed Jan 21, 2015 12:23 pm

Yo,

I have a good friend I grew up with that has the hook up out at Angel Fire. This will be the 3rd year he's been on staff for the summer (he works at Bike Sport Shop in Austin the rest of the year)...I went there back in 2012 and it was an insane blast.

Anyone interested in heading out there this summer for a few days of epic DH? 2200' vertical feet descents, lift access, and valley XC trails galore.

I do have the marital leaving her with two kids thing to deal with but I could maybe get away for a weekend this summer. You plan it and I'll see if I can fit your dates in. 2200' DH sounds like a dream. Do they have DH rentals there?

It would be best for me to do something that spills into two weeks, like a Friday - Tuesday. Sometime in June or July would be best. I can't do the last weekends of either of those months though. What about like June 5-9? Or July 10-14? I could do something else if neither of these dates work.

I'm in for sure. Best time to go is in either July or August the weather conditions are best then.
Are you planning on camping or getting a place? Camping is kind of limited there.

Yes, you can rent just about any high end DH bike you want.

Full service pro-level shop on site. Dudes get you set up and set up well.

August would be more in line with what I was thinking...

That's Cruise The Blues weekend. Y'all should attend for a great weekend of bike racing...
UNOFFICIAL SLOWEST RIDER OF '11 & '12.
SLOWEST REGULAR RIDER OF '13, '14, '15 and beyond I'm sure.
Bought a fat bike to hold the record...

I'd rather go the 7-11 in august, tentatively going to be in Mexico the week of the 16th. But if it has to be 21-25 I may be able to work something out

Been to cruise the blues many times....going downhill fast is more my thing now versus 5 hours of riding in a headwind :)

Angel Fire opens in a couple weeks, are we still looking at these dates 21-15 of August? How many people are thinking of going?
