Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs

Postby muxon » Mon Jul 20, 2015 11:15 am

I did some cheating this weekend while we were in Colorado. Only got one ride in, but it was wonderful.

(Didn't really ride up the highway, but had to take the photo opportunity, lol)

I think I rode about 16 miles (my GPS stopped working reliably once I was in the park with the giant rocks). I was winded for sure. Awesome weather though. So many more trails I could have explored. I hope to get another chance to spend more time and have a few dedicated biking days.

Gonna be in Colorado Springs for the first time in two weeks.

Is garden of the gods gravel bike terrain or mountain bike terrain?

I didn't do all the trails there, but it looked like a mix of both. I stayed mostly on the paved road and wide walking paths since I was alone, but I saw some stuff that I wouldn't have been able to do on the cross bike.

We also hiked around the Red Rock Canyon Open Space a mile down the road and it would have been awesome on a bike. Can't remember if it was allowed or not though. The trails are all marked for walking/biking/horseback.

My friend lives next to Bear Creek Regional Park. It looks like I can hook up with Gold Camp Road and ride fire roads west from there.

Thanks for sharing! I'm planning a trip to Manitou Springs in March. Hope to rent something to ride at Garden of the Gods & Red Rock Canyon. Will post photos/videos late in March.

**Please don't envy me for having reflectors. It was a rental bike.

Nice! I had no idea it looked like that back there! We didn't go too far on foot, but it's beautiful everywhere... I could have just ridden around the parking lot and been happy enough.
